Improve Step Behavior in Overlapping or Nested Sections

Currently, if you place a new section over a step that already belongs to another section, Puzzle will reassign that step to the new section, removing it from the original one. This happens automatically because the system assumes the most recently placed section should "own" the step—regardless of whether that was intended.

This behavior can be problematic when:

  • You’re trying to nest a smaller section inside a broader one

  • You accidentally overlap sections while adjusting your layout

  • You expect steps to remain in their original section unless manually moved

We’re requesting an improvement to how Puzzle handles steps in overlapping or nested sections, so that:

  • Steps are not automatically reassigned when multiple sections overlap

  • The original section assignment is preserved unless changed intentionally

  • Nested section logic is supported more intuitively in the layout engine

This update would provide more control and predictability in organizing complex workflows, especially for teams building layered or modular process maps.
